85.5 944 dash gauges don't work, fuse?

Hey guys,
A guy with a 85.5 944 is asking me about his 944. He says the dash gauges don't work, but the dash lite comes on.

Is this on one fuse?

Any idea's are great thanks much!

need more info
no gauges work at all?
some work? if so , which ones do not work which do?

fuses are easy , you can visually see if they are toast or not
just check the fusebox.

Thanks for the reply.
I haven't seen it myself, he was just asking me.

From what he says, no gauges work. But the dash lights do work.

I would suggest:

First Disconnect battery.

Clean the contacts on the Three Ribbon Cables with an eraser and Some contact cleaner. Remove Cluster first. Clarks' garage (pdf-manual/elect-07.pdf )

There are some plastic lug nuts that are suppose to be metal jumpers. remove them and sand contacts. (never done that but heard it can help.)

Check / clean Central electric ground point under fuse/relay panel. Just follow all the big Brown wires to chassis. and yep you gotta remove the Panel bolts to find this.

Hope one of those works for you.

I have an 85/2 944 that did the same thing. replace the ignition relay (G-2) and the X-relay (G-14) that worked for me.
