924S owners--Please check--Reclusive relay

I am troubleshooting a headlight problem on my 924s that was unsucessfully worked on by a PO. I have replaced 3 missing relays and believe I need a 4th.

I THINK I need a "headlight flasher and Dimmer combination relay" #7, at least that is what Haynes calls it. On the fusebox of an 87 924S (or similar model) it is the lowest left relay, occupying slot "J"

Could someone who owns a 924S take a peek at thier fusebox for me and see if there is an open slot in the lower left "J " position. Input from other similar owners is appreciated as well.

it looks like this from the relay end: (ignore the x it is for spacing)
|
x ___
| ___ |

I went to the dealership and they told me that it doesn't exist. It is listed on the schematics here for the 924 as a dimmer relay. I just need a sanity check here to make sure I am not chasing my tail.

If someone pulled the fuses and relays from a junk 924 or 944 and could part with this one, it would be appreciated. I have a WTB in the appropriate section.

Thanks,

My slot J is open except for a metal jumper across contacts 1 and 3. I drew a pic of what I got.

My headlights seem to work fine with it like this.

That's what I have. I guess the good news is I don't need a part, the bad news is it is something else, Oh well. I will keep you all posted.

Thx Honda-

The '87 924S does not have a headlight relay. There is a separate fuse for each beam (LH, LL, RH,RL). If the fuses are OK then check:

Headlights any good?
Good ground to headlight socket?
Headlight switch?
Highbeam switch?

PM me if you need a wiring diagram.

The guy I bought my 924S from had to replace a ground wire from the right front headlight. Apparently, the design of the wiring harness at the right-front headlight puts stress on the ground wire as the headlight goes up and down. Over time, as it works the ground wire back and forth, it breaks.

You may have already checked this, but if you haven't you might want to give it a look.
