guage issues

Installed an 87 924 guage pod, console and carpets in my 83 944, I personally like the all black interior. My problem is with the oil pressure guage, when i turn the key on the guage pegs to the right. I have tried a different sending unit and guage. I have inspected the wiring harness. I have 12v to the guage (black wire) and the ground is good. The blue and white wire from the sending unit is not shorted, I can remove the sending unit wire from the guage and it remains pegged. The idiot light comes on at key on and goes out with engine running. I must be missing something. Help!

Thanks

Dan, swapped wires on the sending unit like you suggested. Key on, no idiot light and guage did not peg, I thought we were on to something until I started the engine. Guage pegged all the way to the right even after the motor was warm. I have swapped wires around on the back of the guage to no avail. Then I disconnected the sending unit and installed a jumper directly from the sending unit to guage and jumpers + and - from battery to guage with the same result. I must have two bad sending units. I will let you know what I find out when I get a new sending unit.

Installed new VDO sending unit, perfecto everything works. Why this car treats me this I'll never know. Replaced center console and the sending unit goes bad. Last year belts and pump, then it would not start because the reference sensor went bad as I was doing the work. Go Figure!

Thanks for your help!
