Dead battery question

OK I put my battery on the charger (tried trickle overnight & 50amp quick start) and the hazard lights start flashing, the auto door locks start clicking and the alarm light flashes, but car won't turn over. All the gauges turn on also. I just get a click when I turn the key. What's going on??? Why are the hazards flashing, etc. Do I need to reset something when installing a new battery (I disconnected it when charging)

Radio not working either. Car has been sitting through the winter. I'll give the battery charge another try...

Check the battery voltage ,It should be over 12VDC. Check it before and after you try to start. I bought a digital meter that plugs into the cig lighter. It works great.

not just volts, but check the amps as well. I've had batteries show 12+ volts, but the car wouldn't start - amps were too low.

Also it might be that your battery is bad. How old is the battery? Because some go bad after 3 years or so.

Speaking of battery.... i noticed there are some kind of new type that are completely sealed that can even be turned sideways that are supposed to have 3 times or more cold cranking amps. I was at AutoZone the other day looking at them but I didn't see one for a 944 Porsche. Does anyone know if there is one that I made for the 944?

optima, you have to lay it on it's side and buy/make a bracket to secure it but it doesn't leak.

Sounds like your alarm is going off. You have to reset it after charging a dead battery.

Razorback1980, how do you reset the alarm? Looks like my battery may be dead & beyond charging. I'll look into the optima...

Have Fun... Mine is getting a buff job, and a spot repair. Now is the time to enjoy the ride.
