I've seen a red early 944 that was for sale and it had the 924s guages in it. I was wondering if anyone has done it and if it was a simple job to do?
Thank you

yea they are..
not too sure if the 924 gauges have the mpg gauge or not though.. that's the only anomaly as far as I know.

yes, i have 924S guages in my 944. my 944 has a mpg gauge, and CASIS, so i found guages with the same setup. if you want to do the mod, i suggest you find the same thing. also, the clock and oil pressure gauges are a PITA to switch, but do-able. while i was in there i put the tachometer in the middle of the dash, a la 911. i thought it would take some getting used to but i barely even noticed. finding a way to route the speedometer cable was fun, as was hooking it up! also, i had to make a little extension for the red and green wire that hooks from the tach to the speedometer.

CASIS. I had forgotten what that was called.
I remember when I bought the car I thought "boy I am never going to pay attention to that.." but after driving it more and more you don't look at it so much as a "hey shift up and save gas".. but more of a "hey shift up and see how much torque you still have..."

yes, like, hey you stupid computer, get off my CASIS! the light comes on not only as a fuel saving reminder but also at the top of the usable power curve, so you don't waste time in a lower gear when you could be utilizing the power better. i never see the light come on anymore, i just drive in such a way that it never illuminates. soon, i hope that it will illuminate... on the track.

Same gauges. I have the white-on-black 924S gauges in my Callaway car right now.
That speedo cable is hell unless you have very small hands or an extra elbow in the middle of your forearm.

I found it easy to actually reach up under the dash, around the ECU, and detatch the speedo cable from there, rather than pullin the pod out half way like clarks suggests..
