Rear Speaker Panels

Got a question about the rear speaker panels...

Is there a difference between cars with standard 4 speaker setup and cars with 10 speaker option?

I'm going to put 6" round speakers with a separate tweeter in the rear of my 1988 944. When you remove the rear panels, there is already a 6" speaker hole that is covered with a removable metal plate. This is right next to the standard 4x6 speaker.

If I change out to my new setup, the standard panels have small holes over the 4x6 area but no holes over the 6" round section. Are the rear panels for the upgraded speaker setup different? Does anybody have a photo of what these look like? Also, you can't just cut out a 6" hole and use speaker grills because the location is right in the middle of where the panels poke out at the bottom.

I would like to keep my car as stock looking as possible and I would like to get the correct panels (if they exist). A photo of the correct panels would help me know what I'm looking for.

Below are a couple photos of the standard panels:

Here's my estimate of how it looks behind the panel (now that I figured out how to use the photo editor)...

Is it possile you could have both mounted and wired up in there???

If so, I would just replicate holes where th 6" speaker is to match the 4X6 speaker holes in the panel. Just punch the holes in yourself...

But thats just me. I tend to over-do things sometimes...

I just have 4x6, that's certain. I may punch holes myself but if I could find the correct panels that would be even better.

I already bought new front door panels that have the 3 speaker setup (woofer, mid, and tweeter) and my most desirable solution would be to get the proper panels for the rear - But that's just me, I tend to be overly picky. If it takes me a year to find the panels, that's ok. I just want them. I may drill holes in the interim.

sounds like you're on your way to a nice sounding system.

I'll keep an eye out for those rear panels. I'll PM you with what i find.
