The manual says that for a 944 n/a up to MY 89 the front is supposed to be "2.0 bar excess pressure" and the rear is supposed to be "2.5 bar excess pressure." I am not sure what the conversion is though. I'll look it up and see if I can find something.

Found it... http://www.britishmetrics.com/html/pis-bar.htm
2.0 BAR = 29 PSI - Front 2.5 BAR = 36 PSI - Rear So the manual says....

That's what the manual says... up to MY (Model Year) '89. Do you have an "n/a" or an "S"? There's also a link on here somewhere with the manuals on it. Grab them while they're still up!

My tire pressure sticker is on the inside of the gas cap and says 29 psi front & 36psi rear. my car is an '88 but I suspect it's the same for your '84.

A BAR is equal to 1 atmosphere.
1 atmosphere is 14.7 psi 2 Bar is equal to 2 X 14.7psi 2.5 Bar is 2.5 x 14.7psi 3 Bar = 3 X 14.7psi See how simple the metric system is

Thank you soo much, I've had the car since november (I've done about 3000km on it twice to TO and back from montreal so havent had time to drive it much) and the tires were WAYYY over inflated 39/39 psi. Got it all fixed now. Still havent drove the car as I've been having a hell of a time geting the spark plugs changed finaly got the right size thing for my ratchet. They aren't bad just that there is a little bit of carbon deposits. One of the wires and the contact was badly oxydised so I'm going at it with iron wool the plug was wet so thats probably why the engine was running abit rough, no so much but it is noticeable to the ear.
