Starting problem
My 944 immediatley dies on me sometimes when I first start it and it fires up OK the second time or third time but the idling speed is always at 600 and slowly increasing to about 800/850. What seems to be the problem? Can somebody help me?

There is a timed cold start valve under the intake. It's a heated bi-metallic spring closure. Takes about three minutes. By passes the throttle valve. These get gummed up inside and will stick open. Hard to reach with out taking the intake off but with a 1/4" drive, extensions and a few flex sockets you can get to the mounting bolts. Use carb and brake cleaner on it. You can jumper 12 vdc to the pins and watch it close.
