Mother's 3 step is good..
turtlewax is a good old standby...
and there's someone else on here that recommended something called "Ice" - check back a page or two to find it..

Did the two step Ice wax. The first is liquid clay bar, and the second is the wax. I had light scratches on the hood and on fenders, most of the scratches disappeared. My paint is good from ten feet, now it's good fron seven.

Here's the thread on ICE. I put up my processes for getting a car in nice shape.

Ice isn't a wax, it's a polish. There's a difference. Read the thread and learn how to make your baby shine!

ICE ** It's AWESOME!

i Called up Tutle Wax.... The Ice polish, is a wax also...i asked them if it was necessary to buy their wax for after the ice polish, they said no, do not use wax after, that the polish has a wax in it as well..i used it and its great, so easy to put on and both the clay and polish and it came out great. def recommend it.

I would definitely not count on Ice to protect your car like a wax does. It wears off very quickly. It does a good job shining your car, but it won't last - hence, the need to use a sealant and wax afterwards. This makes the car stay shiny for longer, makes the polish do its job better, and also can prevent minor scratches from forming.

It works well as a polish, if for no other reason then it's easy to put on and off. As an actual wax, it fails miserably.

I've used Meguires NXT after clay baring the whole thing. This stuff looks great and seems to hold up pretty well.

Used it on my new Jetta and it looks great after 2-3 months, I'll soon try it on my sons 944 after a good buff out and through cleaning.

I followed the Aufgeladen944 method (to the letter) as mentioned in a previous post....My car has never looked better....if you don't mind my bragging:

Before ClayBar, Polish, & Wax:

After ClayBar, Polish, & Wax:

Notice the time difference..it took several hours.

Thanks Aufgeladen944

You are most definitely welcome. And I can definitely see the difference, in spite of the dark. Looks damn good.

I know it's a lot of work people, but if you love your car, it's worth it. And you do love your car, right? RIGHT?!?!?

Plus, to me, detailing a car is yet another way of showing you what it was exactly about the look of your car that made you buy it in the first place. It's like falling in love all over again...mmmm.
