Hi,
I finally just removed my thermostat's snap ring. I needed to try a variety of methods but eventually got it out with a long pair of 90 degree needle nose pliers with the tips ground down slightly. However, in the excitement of taking the thermostat out I confused the order of the rubber o ring and washer. Which order does the thermostat's washer and rubber o ring go in wrt the thermostat? Thanks again!

Figured it out.
From inside: Rubber Gasket, thermostat, metal spacer washer, snap ring. Amazing how much easier it is to get the snap ring in than it is to get it out. I highly recommend using the long 90 degree needle nose pliers though to get it out. For better vision I raised the headlights a tab then I could see the snap ring's holes directly.

I just did that to mine. Used 45 degree snap ring pliers with bloody hands. Then once it poped out i used i pulling screwdriver to pull it out....
Don't forget the additional thermostat on the 951.
