Heat Sensor on Catalytic Conv linked to DME?

Does anybody know if the Heat Sensor on the Catalytic converter is linked to the DME on a 1990 Porsche 944 S2. This car was originally a Japan-market specification which does have the heat sensor (other markets do not have this sensor as far as I am aware).
I want to remove the cat but before I do this I am seeking information. There is an "Exhaust" light on my dash which is linked to the sensor.
Any help appreciated

eh, yes it's linked
the sensor is a heated lamba sensor, not a heat sensor
it does not sense heat but exhaust gasses

from time to time they go south, and need replacing
i guess that's what you have now

why remove the cat? you won't gain much power with it, just more noise if you don't replace it with a central muffler

you'de have to turn off that light in the dash wiring if you want to run without the probe
there probably is a connector somewhere, but don't have the wiring scheme at the ready now... i did the same when i turned off ABS

Thanks for the info!

The idea was gain more power but I was going to replace the cat with a similar sized sports muffler so the noise wouldn't be too much.

I notice you said I wouldn't gain "much" power rather than "any". So there would be a small gain? Any idea how much?

We don't have emission laws in New Zealand (yet) but we do have noise laws however these are very subjective and can depend on the person testing it or the police officer that pulled you over.

maybe 5 hp gain
maybe another 5 with some chip that takes in account the cat removal
it's all very subjective, and one get's used to the small increase, real fast

if you want more power, trade it in for a Turbo
then you get real options for upping the power
