Help! Strange noises coming from front of my 87 944. The car overheated on the way back from parade and hasn't been the same since. The noise is a clunking, clattering, scraping sound that is intermittent. Seems to go away when I accelerate. I thought the bearings in the alternator were bad so I replaced that but I still have the noise. The A/C works great and blows cold air and there's plenty of oil in the engine. Everything works! Any ideas?

The first thing I would do is drain and examine your oil. If the engine temp got high enough to brake down the oil, it could be main bearing noise. Examining the oil for metal "shrapnel" would be my first step.
Let us know what you find! -Nick
