S2 Strut question
I bought some S2 struts on ebay, the description said they had 80kmiles.
How do you tell if they are shot or not? I can push them all the way down with not too much resistance, and they stay down. Pulling them back up I get good amount of resistance and they stay up. Should I be able to do that?

Only gas pressure type would spring back, so they may be fine.

+1 if they are standard oil dampers then you will and should be able to do what you did. The don't limit movement of course, only dampen sudden movements. Look for oil leaks around the oil seals, scoring, marking or rust on the chroming of the piston itself. If its clean, smooth and oil-leak free they are probably OK.
