Got a question, putting the head back on and came to a small problem
I am putting the head back on my 87 944, here it goes
directly under the head there is the pistons as you all know, well outside of the pistons is unused space, when i took the head off, there was an oil and coolant mix in that space, i drained it all out. Now when im putting the head back on, do i refill it, and if so what do i fill it with coolant or oil. My next question is concerning the head bolt torque specifications, where can i find them or if you know them please let me know. thanks josh

First, did you fix whatever it was that caused you to have oil and coolant mix in the first place?
That "unused" space is the water jacket for cylinder cooling. Add engine coolant after the engine is re-assembled. Head bolt torque specifications: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/cyl-03.htm

im pretty sure i fixed whatever caused the mix, i did the oil cooler seals, and im putting all new gaskets. Please tell me if there is something i missed.
So i just pour anitfreeze directly into this space? any particular amount or just till its full? Does this coolant circulate around the motor or does it just sit there. thanks josh

or do I just put the car back together and then the coolant will recirculate into that space.

put it back together, add coolant at the reservoir and bleed the air from the system. done. do not pour anything in the water jacked space prior to reassembling.

TIP....Elevate the front end just a smidge to help bleeding air out but not too high, do not want to starve the rod bearings having the car doing a wheelie!
