Front end vibration/rattle
Need some help diagnosing a front end vibration/rattle. I just recently had the tires balanced, changed the front wheel bearings, and the ball joints checked out fine. When I turn the wheel it seems as if I have a little too much play and feel something knocking ever so slightly when turning the wheel quickly from side to side. I notice the vibration/rattle above 50 mph and feel a clunk in the steering wheel when going over large bumps at very slow speeds. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've heard this a few times times. The 66 mph rattle. Check the right side A arm bushings that get rotted by Power steering cantainer drip. Also Front wheel bearing can be warn. Grab a wheel spoke and shake in and out. If it rattles, it's too loose or warn.

Verify again your balljoints are in good shape. Also check both universal joints on the steering shaft for play. You can probably have an assistant rock the wheel back and fourth while you look under the car (ramps, jackstands or on lift) but ideally you may consider taking it off compeltley to inspect. Do the same test and verify the tie rod ends arent too worn.

Recheck the preload on your wheel bearings. New bearings tend to "seat" and get loose. You should just be able to move the washer with a screwdriver.
