Headlight motor problems
I was just driving around after a timing belt job and I went to turn the lights on and they didn't go all the way up. I turned the manual knob a bit and the motor started spinning but the headlight didn't do anything. It spins even if the light switch is turned off. I disconnected the motor but the manual override doesn't work. It seems like a gear inside the motor has stripped. the headlights just flop around now and I had to wedge them open so I could drive home. Has anyone else had this problem? Any sources for rebuilt motors? Will a 951 headlight motor fit?

Well, it could be a stripped gear. But first I would check to make sure that they bolted the arm back onto the motor and tightened it appropriately. That part may be stripped, causing your problem.
I have seen used headlight motors on here, Rennlist and other sites from time to time. Check some of the used sites out there as well. Good luck, Keith |

I did the belts myself. Didn't touch the headlights at all.

Before you shop around for a used head light motor. Go back and connect the motor back on open the hood keep turning the knob until head light go up or half way up if it works.
It seems unlikely that relay on the motor gone bad. If you have garage, close the garage push the head lights switch you should see small light on the switch. If not , replace the small light bulb inside the switch. It suppose to work. |
