924 heater fan motor replacement
Has anyone here replaced the electric fan for the cabin ventilation system before?
I have a 1980 924. After popping the hood open, removing the vent grate and cover - it is easy to see and remove the fan & motor. Problem is that the fan motor is held place by some sort of bracket and when removing the nuts, the bolts fall will fall away. It seems like I need to get behind the dash to replace the bolts. But - my Haneys manual says I need to remove the console, drain the colant, remove the heater control valve..... Suddenly this 20 min job turned into a full day. Any ideas? Suggestions? ![]()

after reading Haneys in more detail and looking at the Pelican parts drawings - it seems that a previous owner busted out the original plastic mounts and 'custom built' a metal bracket to hold the fan. Then they drilled through the fan housing and mounted the bracket.
Nice idea .... poor delivery. Its almost impossible to mount the fan in the center of the housing to prevent the fan blades from hitting the housing. Probably why the motor is dead. back to square one..... perhaps I will build a proper bracket
