Another clutch problem
Out of nowhere tonight, the clutch did not come up but 1/3rd. Running or not. There were no signs of upcoming failure. Where should I start, mechanical or hydraulic?

Clutch pedal stuck to the floor? If you can pull it back up with your foot, more than likely a hydraulic failure. You can try to bleed the air out of the slave cylinder, but more than likely the seals are blown. How many miles on it? There are rebuild kits available or you can just buy a new one (less than $100).
There was a rather lengthy thread about this a few weeks ago debating this, but its a good time to replace the master cylinder also. Typically they both fail within a very close time frame. |
mine was clutch master-going thru this now. I watched the clutch pedal go about 1/2 way to the floor on its own with out it being in gear and without my foot any near the pedal.

Yep, it is hydraulic. Fluid is empty. Looks like I will be following with a new master.
Thanks |
Do the slave cylinder too.
