Timing Belt Modification
Anybody else notice this 951 on Ebay? The owner modified the timing belt and water pump setup quite thoroughly. Anybody have an opinion as to whether it's a good idea?

IMO...changing the timing belt didn't help him a lot. He still has to remove it to change the balance shaft belts every 30,000 or so. Of course his setup may be more reliable but I'm not sure without being able to see it. I like the idea of a water pump in a separate location than where Porsche put it and having a timing belt not linked to the proper operation of the water pump shaft and pulley is a good idea in case of a water pump failure. If it's done correctly, I could see some advantages although I am not sure if the reverse cooling would be of a benefit or not. Increased horsepower because he isn't turning a water pump? Maybe but I'm thinking minimal but one would have to compare the numbers to be sure.
