Converting 944S2 cabrio
I like the classic lines of the 944 to the 968. I know the 968 has the tiptronic but would like to know if its costly and complicated to convert a 944S2 cabriolet from a manual to an automatic. The automatic gearboxes are dirt cheap.

Won't work, unless you have a one-off flywheel made for the car.
The ignition timing for the S2 is calculated off the flywheel position by teeth on the flywheel. Since they only made manual transmission S2 cars, you would have to engineer and have one made. Plan on spending about $5K to have that work done. Of course, if you are a mechanical engineer and have your own foundry and machine shop, that might be cheaper. :) |
I am not sure, but you maybe able to use the 968 tip setup. You would need alot of the 968 parts ecu, trans, flywheel/damper, etc.
Still not cheap |
the main thing I would ask is "why ?":confused:
