switching pistons to another block?
As covered in another post, I have a scored cyl wall that I need to deal with. Complication is that I want to retain my ROW pistons. Can I put these into another block of the proper tol group and be safe?
Thanks |
As far as I know there were no differences between US blocks and ROW blocks so you should be able to. Check the piston carefully to make sure there is no damage to it. You don't want it damaging another block. If you need help finding another block, let me know and I'll help you find one.

Yes you should be able to swap no problem, Just make sure its the correct TOL. group 0,1 or 2 Also I would measure those pistons to make sure they are not damaged or oval

One piston is scuffed. Is there a coating that if removed would mean that these can't be used again? Pictures are in my other post about scoring.
Thanks for the help. |
I think they are coated but I don't remember much more than that. I can't remember with what and what it's resistant to. I'll try to look that up and see what I can find out.

Thanks very much for the help. I'm thinking that the piston does not really ride the wall too much, but I don't want to risk galling. I'm starting to lean toward just putting a US spec motor in it.

No stock NA 944 pistons are not coated
