What does tolernace group 0 mean? hurry

im looking at a set of pistons and rods, its from an 84, the rods are forged, ive heard that the forged rods are stronger and desirable when building a strong motor. the auction says they are tolerance group 0. what does this mean. im not familiar with terms yet. thanks josh

There are 6 tolerence groups for pistons.

Group 0 was 99.98mm pistons
Group 1 was 99.99mm
Group 2 was 100mm
Group 1 0 was 100.48
Group 1 1 was 100.49
Group 1 2 was 100.5

The groups were made to match up engine case castings to better fit the pistons.

Aren't all the rods forged? Forged pistons may be what you're looking for?

There are forged pistons, the turbos had em and possibly some 83 models had em.

The turbo pistons are a lower compression though if you're looking for pistons that could take a beating, those would be them.

Someone posted a while ago that early 83 944s had forged pistons but never found a hard reference.

I don't think any of the 944 series pistons are forged. I know the early cars have forged rods and all late 944 2.5L rods are NOT forged other than the turbo.
