Headlight upgrades?
Is Iceshark's website still active? I'm hoping someone is keeping it up as I'm looking for info on bulbs/lenses. I can't seem to find the site, anyone have the URL?

This isn't Icesharks website but they do have the best prices on E-code 7" lights I have found anywhere. They also have a wide range of high performance bulbs including the Omron bulbs. Hope this helps...

Daniel Stern's site is pretty good.
I played with a few different lenses and bulbs and posted my findings over at Rennlist. It's in the DIY section - http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=359901

Rennbay makes a nice alternative to Dan Wray's lighting harness. The biggest single improvement you can do is by going with E-Code lenses and a good 55w H4 bulb.

Damnit, I always forget Rennbay. You'd think I wouldn't...that's where I got my lenses. And my harness.

On the question of upgrading the lights. Does anyone know about thos kits that are on ebay that you can get for 25-40 bucks and change the light assemblys out? Are these worth it, or should I just stay with the stock bulbs? I have issues driving at night and sometimes can't see all too well. My last truck I had the Silver Stars. Would I be able to get one of those kits and replace the bulbs with something like that? Thanks Mike

well, i have personaly purchased those h4 headlight upgrade kits that they sell on ebay for about 40 bucks i got the euro style with the halo ring. I have this to say, they look cool they are not as bright as my originals even with the silverstar ultras the light pattern just sucks. But the real headlight upgrade from Hella is Awsome. I took it to the next level and upgraded my headlight harness and lightbubls to 80/100 watt. I recomend the Hella e-code (european) they have a laser cut off wich lets you aim a little higher without affecting traffic and you can see alot better. With the 80/100 watt upgrade ( only with new harness) there was some realy bad fog and i had a brand new 07-08 civic pass me then slow down and drive behinde me cuz i could see 3 times farther and brighter then him lol
i got my lights from rallylights.com and i paid about 32$ for each h4 lense and a pair of hella xenon bulbs. you will notice a big difference. The website i made my purchase from was Rallylights

dont upgrade the bulbs unless you plan on upgrading the harness at the same time.
that's the single best upgrade you can do.

I got my H-4 lenses from Pelican (they were e-code version). I purchased a wiring harness from www.944online.com and it fit and worked perfect. The harness made an immediate noticeable difference. I use Piia bulbs which I got from the Piia website.
All that being said, does anyone know if a harness is needed to improve the fog lights. I upgraded my bulbs and they work well but I was thinking that a harness might do the same for my fogs as it did for my headlights. It seems odd to me that we have relays in the fuse box for both the headlights and the fogs but a second set of relays was needed for the headlights (ie. harness) and it made a big difference. I'm no electrician so it's a little confusing but it definitely worked. Vern Last edited by Tidybuoy; 01-18-2008 at 10:29 AM.. |
