Scored 87 944S - Mint!

Just Scored a Minty 1987 944 S with 69000 miles and everything works!
I want to upgrade the front sway bar and possibly add a rear. Any suggestions?
I heard that the 968 front bar is 30mm and fits!?!?

The car came with these C2 Turbo Wheels 7.5" and 9" in rear.

I already bought a set of 968 16" rims for the race rubber. I will be autocrossing the car.
It already came with a momo steering wheel and some kind of funky exhaust.
Perfect for SCCA B-Stock Class!

Do a 26.8mm and a 19mm rear. I really liked this setup on my now sold '87 n/a. The 944 has an inherent understeer characteristic and the 30mm front will make this worse. The 26.8mm i found was a perfect match for the 19mm rear with equal sized tires ( i was using 225's on the same 968 wheels for auto-x).

The 30mm does fit with the correct bushings but also requires a larger center bushing clamp (two of them).

Nice!

I like the wheels, but that setup will induce understeer. Your suspension mods should account for that.

Your other option is to autocross on 8" wheels all the way around, and keep the C2 wheels for the street. A 944 is most fun to drive that way.

I have heard on more than 1 occasion that the same wheels on all four corners is a nice set up. I will try this eventually. Funny that the factory did 15 x 7, and then 16 x 7 & 16 x 8. I guess I will have to get a THIRD set of wheels to try it out. Maybe Santa will come early this year....maybe not.

Can anyone name that exhaust? It sounds great and must be tons lighter than the stock stuff. Polished tip. but no name!?!?!

Hey congrats! I am picking up a near identical 944S this weekend, same year and colors with 63k miles. Hmmm... love the look of those cup wheels, I think I'll get some.. Best of luck with it.

Maybe we should all learn a secret S handshake?

congrats. Car looks nice. Better buying it nice and go nicer, than buying junk and get frustrated.

Welcome to the S club.

Thanks for the well-wishes. The car came with these wheels. They are Italian after-market.
7.5" x 17s in front and 9" x 17 in rear. The rear tires are 255/40 17. No rubbing! They do look great but i would have preferred to stick with the 16s.
