speed/reference sensors

Does anyone know if the speed and reference sensors are interchangeable?

Also, from what I understand, the speed sensor is spaced 0.8 mm from the ring gear, which will automatically space the reference sensor to its correct position. Does anyone know what this spacing should be? I did the 0.8 mm for the speed sensor, but the reference sensor looks even closer to the reference stud. The feeler gauge shows about 0.4 mm. Should it be 0.8 mm as well?

I did reset the stud with loctite at 5 mm as the factory manual stated.

I would hate to see my new sensors get clipped by the stud or ring gear.

Adjusting Sensor Clearance

The speed and reference sensors do not normally need adjustment even after replacement. Adjustment is only required if the sensor mounting bracket is removed or the mounting bracket locking bolt is inadvertently loosened.
Remove the speed sensor.
Loosen the mounting bracket locking bolt (6 mm Allen head) and pivot bolt and then re-tighten finger tight.
Glue the 0.8 mm thick washer to the bottom of the sensor.

..............
I used epoxy on a washer because I didn't want it to come off and fall in the clutch.
I did not check with a feeler guage and am unable to answer the gap Q.

Good luck,

I cant verify the measurements right now, but when you get it right scribe a line on the sensor bracket, if you have to adjust the bracket or if it comes loose you will easily know the exact spot it should be in.

If the speed sensor is gapped correctly and the pin is at the right height as you stated the ref sensor will be correct. It sounds like you have the bell housing off so your gaps should be right on the money. If you are relying on a spacer glued to the bottom of a sensor don't use a washer use a flat piece (feeler gauge material) as you know the washer has a hole in the middle and the ring gear is round so it can throw off the reading.

Thanks for the feedback. I will go ahead with the reassembly, since all my measurements have been verified. I was just curious about the reference stud gap.
