heater temp not adjustable
HELP !
My heater has been broken since I purchased the car and now it is time to fix it! 1984 Porsche 944!! When we got the car the heater had already been fixed? HA! The person that owned it had pulled the control to make the heater get hot or hotter and said that the clip had broken to adjust this with the control. So now you have to adjusted the metal wire with a pair of pliers or a strong hand to pull this up or down to get it to adjust. The word is that we will have to remove the dash to get this back together. But what PARTS do I need to get this Fixed????

You don't have to remove the dash to fix the heat adjuster. There is a valve at the bag of the head in the engine bay, and this is what shuts off the flow of hot water to the heater core.
As to the cable being stiff, try this. You'll have to detach it from the heater control panel, which means removing that(the dash still stays in place). Find you some vacuum tubing that'll fit over the control cable, and get you some Liquid Wrench, or similar Teflon lubricant. Spray the Teflon lube into the vacuum tube, then use an air nozzle with a rubber tip(hooked to an air compressor), and blow through the vacuum tube, attempting to 'push' the lube further down the control line. Grab some pliers and push/pull the cable till it becomes free. Shoot some more lube, and more air, and work it some more. This technique worked great on my '83 to bring new life back into the heat control cable. The cable clips that secure the cable to the heater panel and the valve are #28. Through my experience with my '83, you might even consider buying a new panel, #21. Mine had each spring clamp mounting point busted.
