About a month ago i had this problem:
maybe its because i live in michigan and its crazy cold here sometimes but ive been having this problem. my battery keeps dieing overnight i guess or when it sits all day. Ive gotten the batt tested and the alternator tested both came out perfect. Even after i got the bat fully charged at a near by store and i turn the car on, the bat meter jumps depending on what i turn on. It goes from 14 to under 12 if i turn on the defroster, lights, rear defrost which is the worst. i really dont know what to do. Also at times when im driving or reving the engine you hear a whistle noise come from the alternator area. Not a screech but more a loud whistle. any help or input would be greatly appreciated ty i ended up taking it to my friends shop and his mechanic found these problems, fixed them and now everything works perfect again 1. the belt squeeling resulted from an old alternator belt 2. the mechanic diagnosed that the ENGINE COOLING FAN CONTROL COMBINATION RELAY had shorted out which resulted in the fan turning on always, even after the car had been turned off and right when the ignition is turned slightly 3. after replacing the ENGINE COOLING FAN CONTROL COMBINATION RELAY, he saw that this had wore out the alternator voltage regulator 4. the alternator cooling fan temp switch was also in dier need of a replacment. The car has never ran as smooth...even the ac started to work again lol. i had all of this done at a cheap price because i was not charged for labor. but if anyone has any of the reported problems..this might be solution.
