Once again I have a 90 944 S2 with a intermittent starting issue. After almost ruining my car trying to bypass the alarm, I fixed a burnt wire removed the jumpers. I plugged the alarm back up and the car started right up about 15 times in a row. I let the car set 1 minute to 2 minutes before each start. Then it went back to it's old tricks. The engine will just spin...But for some reason you can open the door the shut the door never getting out and the car will start right up???????????????? It has been doing this along time(since I've had the car). When the car doesn't start open the door the close it and it will start right up. It has to do with the alarm has to.? But what am I missing? Also there is a long thin black electronic box under the carpet in the trunk, What is that? I want to sell this car but it is eating me alive trying to figure out the no start issue.

sounds like fuel pump relay might not be in all the way.
so also check for loose wires, replays, and fuses....

I have lifted the fuse box out of the car looking at that already. I have checked every thing I can think of the DME relay is new also. Could this be from a faulty ignition switch? What are some symptoms of a bad ignition swictch? Im just taking wild guesses.

idk about the dme but if it's cranking and not even a huff comes out, it's most likey fuel related. you can see if the fuel pump is getting any juice by cranking it and measure the volts. and if it isn't getting anything, follow the wire. it's most likely a loose wire along the way somewhere.
also a quick test to see if it's fuel, is carb cleaner in the throttle bod. and it it starts up it's fuel related
