Question about what is the resistor behind the glove box in an 86??

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out. I was going through the car trying to find any and all ground points, crawled under the dash on the passengers side to notice some attachment tucked up behind the glove box. Looks like 2 resistors?? Noticed that the connector ends were corroded pretty bad, figured I would take it out and clean the corrosion up. Well when I got the glove box out and the attachment off, found that the wires were not only corroded, but had gotten hot, plasitc was melted off and corrosion on top of some looked like it had arked at one time. I basically re-wired with new wires to fix the issues, but I ahve no clue what it is. Looked in the hanes book, I have no idea? Thanks Mike

Cooling fans resistors. On later cars they were moved to the cowling area by the battery.

Thanks for the info. I had no clue and having problems with the electrical side of my car wanted to be 100% on what it was. I re-wired it any way, hope it will help in some way!
