Your in Texas, put in a cooler thermofan switch and put the thermostat back in
with the correct shim and gasket for your car! From picture: C clip--shim--outer thermostat gasket (2 thickness sizes available )--thermostat--inner seal (ignore now). ![]() GL John_AZ |

does it matter what kind of thermostat gasket I use? should I go with a lower temp thermostat if I'm using a cooler thermoswitch?

I use a cooler 71C/160F degree thermostat with a 75C/167F degree thermofan sw. You may only have to drop one level and go with a 82C/180 thermostat and 92C/198 thermofan switch with a newer radiator.
The gasket thickness depends on the pump you have either a 4.5mm thick outer or 2.5mm thickness. NAPA usually has both sizes. GL John_AZ Last edited by John_AZ; 07-24-2008 at 10:37 PM.. Reason: Reviewed options with new radiator |
