944 starter not working when hot

Anyone here experience a starter not working when the engine is hot ? It's a new starter drawing a full 12 volts. Letting the car sit for 30 mins fixes the problem. The starter is brand new from Pelican and I ran every test imaginable before replacing it but now I am thinking I have developed a ground problem when things get warmed up. Any ideas other than testing everything again when the problem arises ?

I am assuming that a new solenoid came with the starter... The main ground wire is on the top of the bellhousing. A little difficult to get to, you can reach it from above, between the firewall & intake manifold.

Have you tried the jumper cable test? This might help isolate the problem.

If you suspect it is the ground, take one end of the cable and attach it to the mounting bolt on the starter. Other to the negative terminal on the battery. Then attempt to start.
