968 Suspension Question
This winter I plan to upgrade the suspension on my 92 968. I use the car primarily to drive to and then participate in HPDE events.
I don't want to spend too much money as my track budget is limited and any money spent on the car is money taken from registration. In particular I would like to reduce the amount of rollover I am getting while cornering. I was thinking (and based on my reading from a search of the forum) that the M030 roll bars would be the place to start. To give a bit of insight - I live in Indianapolis and Putnam Park is my home track. I also drive Mid Ohio and Gingerman and look forward to some trips to the Glen, VIR, Barber, etc. I have 35 days of HPDE currently and plan to start instructing next year. I experience enough lean in high speed rights that I spin the inside (right) rear wheel - which as you track junkies know will do a good bit to unsettle the rear of the car. I would like to mitigate (because I know I need to replace LSD to correct) this problem through flattening out the car in the corners. Attached is a picture of the car. The way it looks here is pretty typical - it always looks like it is sitting low in the rear. ![]()

I'd start with the stiffest factory (junkyard) unit you can find for the front (along with those bracket brace dealios), and use the Lindsey unit for the rear for maximum tweakability.

Do you just have a stock suspension currently (I'm guessing you don't have the M030 suspension)? Also, define a limited budget? You can do a decent setup if you get Koni yellows all around, 200 or 250 lbs front springs, larger rear torsion bar (needed if you go above 200lb springs), and like you said the M030 sway bar setup. Then you get into the smaller things, like new bushings, strut mounts, ride height adjustment, etc (it would be smart to replace all the rubber peices in the suspension to get the most out of new parts)... I'm not sure if it varies for the 968's, but for my early 944, I have figured it would cost around $1800 for all the stuff I said (just parts). If you want to only spend a little for now, upgrading to the M030 sway bars may be a nice start and you can add on as you get the money, if you want.

I put the 968 M030 sway bars (front & rear) on my '88 944. The difference was amazing. the car feels very stiff around the corners without ruining ride quality. I did the front & rear for about $500 with new parts and bushings.
I would consider those stiffining brackets for the fron as well. But, get brand recomendations...I bought a pair on eBay and they don't fit. Your car does not look like it is leaning excessivly. It does look like it sits a little low in the rear - but you might also consider a set of front springs that stiffen and lower at the same time. |

Here is a better picture of the lean...
This is at turn 2 at Gingerman. Looks like M030 is a good way to start. I would love to buy an elephant racing suspension - but it would take most of my track budget for the year.
Any other suggestions are appreciated. I am heading off to Mid-Ohio next Monday and Tuesday with MORPCA - come say hi if you are around.
