Which Brakes do I have - 968 or 968 m030
I recently purchased 4 calipers from a 968 for my 1988 944 n/a
I previously purchased 968 Front Spindles & Hubs. The next piece of the puzzle is to get new rotors, pads, paint and rebuild the calipers with new seals, etc.. I'm wondering which calipers I actually have, there are no serial numbers that I can make any sense out of (20 4892.00 & 20.4676.00 or 20.4372.01). I was recently looking at caliper seal kits and I noticed that there is a difference between 968 & 968 m030 and the m030 are described as left & right with the photo of the caliper looking exactly like mine (mine have an arrow on the front indicating left & right). The seal kits for the non-m030 have a photo of a claiper without the directional arrow. Also, the pads that came with my rotors have things stuck onto the backs that insert into the pistons to hold in place - I find this item in the PET catalog as m030 anti-squeel pads. So, now I'm confused as to what I actually have. I want to be sure I get the correct rotors, and have to correct spindles for everything to work. Any advice would be great. Attached is a phot of what I bought: ![]() ![]() Thanks in advance......Vern Last edited by Tidybuoy; 08-25-2008 at 02:20 PM.. |

Those are non M030 as mentioned, the M030 cars had the same calipers as the 951S and 928S4.
M030 on the right, stock on the left.

Thanks Guys! It always amazes me how fast my questions get answered (and with photos too).
I hate to say it, but I'm glad their not M030 - I've spent enough already and these will work well. Those m030's in the photo look huge. Vern |
