Where do 944 a/c systems normally leak refrigerant
The PO said that the a/c works it just leaks the fluid out in a day or so. Where do these systems leak at so i can replace the seals or hose what ever the cause may be. I have no experience working on a/c other than ripping it all out. Josh

My AC leaked at the compressor shaft and I have read that others have experienced this too. Look for a dirty oily residue around the compressor and refrigerant lines. The best way to find the leak is too charge the system, if possible, with refrigerant that contains dye and look for the leak with a fluorescent light. If it leaks down within a day, that is a pretty severe leak.
Good Luck! A.J.

Mine leaks at the condensor. Mechanic said it's pretty common. Expensive bugger too!

The compressor has a large o-ring or two where the sections of the case mate. These only last so long, but I understand it is an easy fix and the seals are not expensive. Search for a post that gives the part numbers and how to order them. Or search thru google for 944 comressor seals...

mine was the hose from the compressor to the condenser (hose swelled and burst internally)
fixed at local a/c shop for $14!!!!!

My guesses have already been taken. It's either the front seal on the compressor or the high side hose from the compressor to the condensor. You may have an o-ring that went bad though. The most common place for an a/c system to leak is at the schrader valves. You have two of those, and I'd check those first.
Put some air in to the system with an air compressor (100 psi should do) and grab a spray botttle filled with soapy water to find the leaks on fittings and hoses. Otherwise, look for black oily residue on connections and fittings, as well as the back side of the compressor/pulley, and condensor. Most of the time you can find a 2 day leaker with your eyes and there is no need for the aforementioned air in the system. Let me know, I do a/c.
