Park Brake Switch?

The switch under my park brake lever has come apart. I have the spring, a small thin cad plated washer & the 'switch' (black plastic sensor with an electical spade connector on the bottom) itself. I can see the slotted bracket that the bottom the spring rest on but I think I am missing some bits.

Can anyone show me an exploded parts diagram or photo of the unit properly assembled?

OK - so nobody has any pictures for me. Can anyone tell me how the switch goes together and how it is held in place?

It's just a spring-loaded momentary switch, I believe. Your best bet is probably to just find a good used one here on Pelican.

Just to close the loop - I figured out the solution to my problem. I removed the switch bracket, switch & spring. I learned that the bracket was bent out of shape. I straightened the bracket and correctly set the spring and switch. The way the switch works is as follows. When the park brake is released the switch is pushed up by the spring until the electrical contact at the bottom of the switch makes contact with the bracket. This ground the switch and turn the light on. When you put the park lever down the switch is depressed and no longer makes contact. My switch was not working because the bracket was bent out of shape. All it took was a simple straightening and every thing works fine.

bjaspud, you didn't, by chance, happen to take a pic of your switch when you got it re-assembled, did you? Mine seems to have come apart just like yours did.

Didn't see a washer, but I can certainly have another look. I did, however, manage to retrieve these three parts...the plunger, the spring and the bracket (sorry for the blurry phone-pic).

Our host sells these for about $15.00, but if I can get this one put back together, that would be cool too.

Thanks for the great pics, bud! Helps a lot.

Yeah, I knew there was a little washer missing, and honestly, for the price of a new switch, it's probably easier to just buy it than to track down the specific washer I need. Especially given the broken plastic bits.

time for another order from our most gracious host!

Cheers!

Randy
