Does the A/C compressor have a rear mount as well as the two at the front? Yesterday I climbed under my new project car to find out why the alternator belt was off and discovered the upper mounting ear of the A/C compressor that bolts to the alternator bracket was broken off. The hiem joint on the adjusting arm had broken off too. I'm sure which ever one broke first caused the other to brake soon after. It seems like another mount in the rear would solve this problem but I don't see one. Is this a common problem?
On the positive side I found a brand new ignition rotor in the glove box. I'm trying to stay upbeat. ![]()

Yes, there is a rear mount bolt as well, and if it is broken missing or loose, the compressor will twist, and shoot off belts, and or brake the adjuster as you have described .

You should replace the mounting bracket if you want to run A/C on your car.. or if you know a very very good TIG welder it's another story..
