adding to the summer to do list.

with summer on the way im saving money to go through my to-do list and buying parts as i go. i would like to take a moment to list some things and ask if anyone has anything to add.

my car
1984 944
105K estimated off the top of my head.
only getting between 19-20 MPG....idk whats up

the list.
oil change with 15W-50
new air filter (i hear cones arnt good, so K&N filter will have to do in stock box)
new fuel filter
drain fuel tank and clean fuel strainer
new cap/rotor/wires
buy manual sunroof clips, convert sunroof to manual
buy hella E-code lights and New light wiring harness for headlight upgrade
Get AC diagnosted and try and get it fixed
New Shift boot
Flush Radiator and put new fluid in
Buy a cruise controll motor (i think its the motor, its in the engine bay by battery)
refinish wheels (stripped and painted)
rebuild Calipers (takeoff clean and paint)
Get alternator rebuilt (to possibly something slightly more powerfull if possible)
New Alarm System (current one is crappy and old)
Rewire my small amp + 1 Sub into a wheel well compartment, with a switch for the amp cutoff by arm rest.
equip some speed bleeders.
Steel Brake line's
Vacume Hose Kit to redo all lines
944 tow eye in front/ rear tow points/ tow stickers
aluminum pedal set
lower temp sensor
install volt meter
Window tinting (50% visability on back, rear and driver/passenger windows)
Custom Porsche 3m Vinyl decal or front windshield
Footwell lighting
sea Foam clean up.

Possibilitys but im not sure about these....INPUT PLEASE!

Upgrade instrument lights to LED's - i know over at 944online they where talking about this upgrade

Upgrade all bulbs in car to LEDS - also talked about on 944online although i dont know what is needed for the job

vented Nose pannel - although i think the 1984's pannel is welded on making this task seem daunting.

Upgrade the fusebox/fused from old style fuses to new style.

Remove old mast intena and try and move the wiring to behind the sunroof and wire in a shark fin antena

Possible 951 oil cooler upgrade if i can get a vented nose pannel to put behind it.

Automatic Locks- not sure if i can
Thanks for the InPut and listing anything else i might have forgotten!

EDIT: Pertaining to LED LIGHT on 944online This was posted

here's the cross reference of your '84 bulbs to the led types on that site:
tail light: '84 - 5008; led that replaces it - 67 or 1156
stop light/turn signal/backup light: '84 - 7506; led that replaces them - 1156
dome interior light: '84 - 6411; led that replaces it - 4410
general instrument lights: '84 - 2721; led that replaces it - 74

Although im sure the bulbs are not a direct plug in play fix. any ideas, someone said something about resistors. i dont know electrical though.

What do you drive this car for? DD, fun, race...? Some of the upgrades seam to be overkill and pointless unless you want to race the car. Just my opinion. Otherwise sounds like you are going to give the car a good tune-up and some nice new features. Upgrading to LEDs should be a nice touch to add. Just know, as you mentioned saving money, all the items you want to do will add up to a large amount of money.

The only thing I might add is belts (timing/balance) and water pump. More the belts. Do you know what mileage and how long ago they were changed? It would suck to put all that work into the car and have the belts break...

i use the car for fun, daily driver, hopefully some DE/Autocross this year. last year i managed to attend a putnam park racing event.

the belts where done when i got the car 2 years and 3 months ago. since them i have put on around 15k max in miles. so i should still be in good shape there.

speaking of that though, i have no idea about my water pump, never really took that into consideration although i done seems to be having any problems.

Why? Whats wrong with the power roof? If its the gears it is a PITA to fix but it certainly is possible and is cheap to fix.

I have thought about this but at the same time would replace the pads, turn or replace the rotors, change the brake lines to SS and fill with Super Blue.

Why, are you running hydrollics or a super huge stereo system???

Do you really need an alarm? I have an alarm in my car and have never in 4 years used it. The car has elected to shake loose the horn and I would remove the whole thing but Im paranoid the car will never start again.

I have heard bad things about these.

I am going to be tinting my car as well and what I have decided to do is remove the rear wiper and use a plug from arnworks for the hole in the glass. The tinter will (shoud!) remove the wiper to tint the rear glass anyways and I think the car looks much cleaner without it.

I did this to an e30 BMW, nothing make a car look old than a big arse antenna coming out of the fender. The issue is that at that point you are going to have to paint the fender

you don't really need a vented nose panel, because after all it's a reg N/A.
I would wait till you get a turbo before going full out..

the sunroof motor is bad, i took my car to a porsche mechanic and he said that it want the gears but rather an issue with the motor itself. also the latches to hold retract and hold the roof (and tilt it) are broken so its easyer to just make it a manual.

my pads are brand new as of 2 months ago, but i will do the steel brake like when i redo the calipers.

the alternator after multiple tests from multiple in town places have told me that although it is working, it is not working 100% they estimated 55-65% efficiency.
i personally know nothing about car electronics though (the works of them)
my stereo system is very small relatively. (all 4 speaker replaced, and 1 10" sub)

my car has been broken into 2x outside my house, i use the alarm at all times and has helped me get out there before anything bad has happened or anything stolen.
although i wish i had automatic locks to combine with the alarm.

about the antenna, after reading ive decided to run the wires under the inside molding and i assume ill have to redrill a hole in the roof behind the sunroof inorder to make this work. a local paint shop might be able to remove the antenna, fill the whole and paint it decently im hoping.

the reason for the vented nose i was wanting was to eventually put a cone filter in it for true old air intake segregated from the engine bay.

this would also lead help with my goal of eventually super-charging my car. no i will not get into the 951 vs supercharging argument. i have seen both sides and have chosen my route because of the memories and attachment i have with my car. and im not keen on the 951 starting price/upkeep speaking im trying to finish college. i have found the supercharger to give the small to moderate gains that i wish to see. (looking for around 215 HP thats all) i enjoy the car emensly but im not a horse power junky, i just want that little boost, and as i read with an eaton M62 you can safely run small enough boost to reach my goal fairly easily.
