I have removed my Stone Guards, but how do I remove the old glue from the body?

I have removed my old stone guards from my S2, and was wondering if there is way to remove the old glue that is left on the body prior to putting on the new guards?

3M makes a very nice adhesive remover. It will not harm your paint. You can buy it at your local body shop supply.

Also good for removing the adhesive left behind for hood insulation.

Rubbing alcohol, tar remover, Goo Gone have all been tried and work sort of.

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's or whatever...and get some plastic scrapers (in the paint section). Use the goo gone or 3M stuff with those and a toothbrush. I've heard other people recommend erasers and apparently there is some type of a drill bit type eraser that paint/body shops use that gets the glue off pretty easily as well.

I got mine off with a heat gun and plastic scrapers to start then just attacked it with a hard bristled toothbrush and goo gone. It just takes time...

Curious...Why are you removing the glue if your gluing on new guards? Is it so uneven that it will be noticeable through the new guards?

I decided to delete mine. I tried scraping, heat gun, 3m remover, goo-gone....got tired and cut out some black contact vinyl and covered the gluey mess up. I can't see any defects showing through on them. It was a temporary fix, almost a year ago, still looks good to me.

I agree with the other replies regarding heating up the area with a heat gun or even a hair dryer and using the 3M adhesive remover. GooGone might work also. A plastic scraper will work well to get the adhesive off. I used an old credit card when I took off mine.
