17mm Transmission Drain Plug Part??

One of my transaxle 17mm hex plugs is about stripped out. Next time I change it, I want to replace the plug but can't find the damn part anywhere. Searching for "transmission drain plug" on pelican only gives me oil plugs.

Anyone know where to find this thing?

Isn't that a metric pipe thread plug? You might not end up with a 17mm hex (it could be a square pipe wrench head on the plug), but can't you find a plug at home depot or lowes or something ...?? Won't have the magnet of course, but in a pinch...

why does porsche use the inset giant allens instead of just using a normal hex head plug? .... another one of those "cause that would make too much sense" ?

I always ask that question when it comes to some of the bolts for removing the transaxle. Like the ones for the coupler connecting to the torque tube should not have been allen key bolts, or the ones up top on the outer part of the case for later 944s. I sometimes just wonder what they were thinking....
