late speedometer question

Does anyone know how many volts the late style speedometer operates on? I am putting the electronic speedometer into my 83' car and am questioning how to wire it properly. from what i can tell from the manuals it looks like it gets 12 volts but I am not even sure that what i am looking at is the speedometer.

I put the electronic speedometer into the early speedometer housing and switched over the the face on it. I think mechanically it is all going to work out real well i just need to figure out the wiring. I do have an 86 turbo transmission in the car so I do have the sensor for those of you who are wondering.
