Nasty S2 Cab Rattle

Hi

Hopefully someone can help!!!

I have just been for a run in my S2 cab and it has developed a strange rattle.....

The rattle only occurs at 2900rpm in every gear both going up and down the rev range... I am not sure if it is something loose and the resonation is causing it to vibrate at this frequency or if it is something more sinister???

Has anyone experienced anything like this, your help would be appreciated as I wantto sell the car but dont fancy my chances with this strange noise!!!

thanks

Rob

i understand that it does it at 2900 in every gear

does it do it with both the clutch engaged and disengaged?

does the clutch engagement have any judder or vibration?

how high in the rpm range have you gone? My S2 has a nasty metallic vibration at about 2100, 3200 and 4000, I thought it was a loose heat shield (yours may be), but found hat it was a crack in my catalytic convertor, or resonator, whatever that real big thing is before the muffler.

ok - so, to be clear, when you step on the clutch pedal it goes away? see if it does it sitting still, out of gear, and at the same rpm

the car doesnt do it when revving freely, only when in gear and driving, could it be something loose or could it be cambelt tension?

Send a message via AIM to black944 turbo
Sounds like a loose heat shield.
