Difficult into reverse

From a total standstill if my car is parked on a really flat surface it doesn't seem to want to get into reverse that easily...i have no grinding in gears, no slipping, and it shifts smoothly through all the gears.

It just seems a little difficult to get into reverse sometimes, its not slipping its as if when you try and throw it into reverse the shirt knob doesn't want to go any farther. Just doesn't "feel" in gear. Any idea's?

Try slowly letting the clutch out. Mine does that too I just ease out REALLY slowly on the clucth to turn the gears and it slips right in.

And if you continue to let the clutch out... you're backing up. :P

Well the problem isn't it slipping when going into reverse...the actually shifter doesn't go back far enough to get it into the gear...for example when you push the shifter into the first gear...you feel that the shifter is all the way in first...and than you slowly let out the clutch etc...

But when i pull the shifter into the reverse position...the shifter doesn't feel like its going all the way in...its not even remotely in the gear.

Did you check the shift lever under the leather boot. The "E/C" clip will fall out.

I had this problem a while back. After I stripped the interior and took off the shifter leather boot, i never had the problem again. Im not sure if its the same for you but the leather around my shifter was bunching up and throwing it off course! Pry up the leather and try it then.

Might be time to put in a shifter rebuild kit ( available form our host, not expensive). It takes the sloppyness out of the shifter, you find the gears much more easily. I was having trouble getting into 5th before the rebuild.
