has anyone here used STP's injector cleaner?
i usually use techron, but the gas station by my house was out of stock, so i used STP's product instead. i scoffed when i read the label, "made with jet fuel". i put it in my gas tank anyway.
my car had an odd flat spot at about 3000 RPM's and the idle was rough. frankly, my car had all the symptoms of injector issues. to my utter amazement, this stuff worked! my car runs perfectly after about 50 miles.

I actually picked up a couple of bottles on sale to add to my "spring tune up pile". I figured it cant hurt.
so far the pile consists of K&N air filter Fuel filter Spark Plugs distributor rotor Klewit plug wires 02 sensor I also have a rear wiper delete plug and switch blank and new roller shade ends to install. |

I've been using Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant with Injector Cleaners & Fuel Conditioners in my cars for the last few years. The Pathfinder started having a lag when the gas pedal was pushed and I assumed it was from a buildup of muck in the fuel injectors. It cleaned that up and also got rid of the hard starting on the RX-7, usually in cold weather. I think a lot of the fuel additive usage has to do with the type of fuel and additives that are already included plus the quality of the fuel. I have heard that some additives have an effect on specific fuel systems and should not be used, specifically for cars made today with today's fuel. Overall I guess it is just a common sense thing for a car that has been in storage or that operates at a higher than normal altitude.

not in the 944, but I used STP in the wife's VW Cabrio. Just gummed the fuel system up good. Made it run crappy for a month, I thought I'd never get that stuff out of the system.
