since you obviously have another car, why not learn some mechanics on this car, with our help. In the future, the experience will save you many thousands of dollars. If you can read, yu can fix this car. If you can read, you can learn anything. (if you can spell, that's good too! lol)

In case you don't want to hire a mechanic (with a real shop and everything). You can hire a Porsche-knowledgeable college student looking for work (plenty of those types on various Porsche forums). I've had this guy help me pull out a drivetrain -- he knows his way around 944's very well: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=509590

halik: Right now yes. Still I hope to make enough money over the next few months where later I could justify putting 15+K into the car and am curious what I might be able to make out of it.

speedracing944: Ya. :( Hopefully Nick still has parts. I'm waiting to hear back (sent him a msg).

HondaDustR: I hadn't heard that the belts can be tnsioned manually by hand. I'll look that up! Thanks.

TSNAPCRACKLEPOP: Nope, no other car. It sucks. I've been able to use my Mom's a bit but not anymore. At least the studio I'm looking at moving into within the next week is in an area where getting around on foot or w/ a bike is fine. Don't know if I have much chance toward having good spelling, lol. :)

josephsc: I found the local San Diego Porche Club forum but am not a member and couldn't post anything. I'll check out rennlist. I got an email back from one local mechanic and he said he could help me. No word on pricing yet, but maybe things will work with him.

Speedy, can you tell the class how you fixed the belt and added about 300hp?

tomwg123 09-07-2009 01:21 PM

Wow, I didn't look at Speed's link until now. That looks like it is/was a really fun project probably. It's cool to see it's possible to get by on a budget to :)

How much was that vette LT-1 engine?

Maybe I'm best off living without a car for a bit (area would be one where this isn't uncommon) and in the near future hopefully I can move into a place w/ a garage where I could have an area to attempt something like this.

What is that car like to drive now? Does it still handle really well w/ super amped HP?
