So I give up on 944s

Car just broke down at the wrong time and I just can't figure out why it's vomitting oil and gas. I'm going to have to sell at as the mess it is. I know 944s are not worth much right now but how much do you guys think I'd be able to get out of a fairly stright none-running 1989 2.7 with a new clutch and 150k miles on it?

I know the 2.7 heads are worth some money because of their scarcness. Look at some on here, EBAY, Craigslist, and Rennlist to see if there are any '89s out there and get the prices, and go from there. Sorry about your car. and Sorry I couldnt be of more help. You can always give it to a school and have them fix it up for you, but you would have to buy parts, but thats it.

Yeah, why give up? I've been through a lot - blown head gaskets, blown clutches, timing belt failures - and I've considered giving up 944s, but I always come back... and you know what? It's worth it in the end.

Eventually, I am going to move on to 911s, but the reason has nothing to do with repairs/maintenance (although not having to deal with coolant will be nice).

Vomiting oil and gas? Can you maybe describe it a bit more?

I'd say an 89 is worth maybe 10% premium over an 85.5-88 model with the same mileage.

I know, I know...I'll probably regret selling it and not fixing it but I'm really short on time and $$$$ at the moment. I might give it one more shot today but I'm not too optimistic.

I turn my car over and a mixture of gas and oil pools up in the air cleaner housing.

I would at least get it to a mechanic so see what is wrong, a non running car is worth very very little.

Maybe your car is just angry with you for using a picture of an AMC Gremlin as your avatar!

Pffft...Gremlin. I'd take an RS2 Avant over 10 944s

What does your oil look like...is it full or over full? Color of oil? If you replaced the AOS seals and are still getting that gunk in the jboot, then you are probably building excess pressure in the crankcase. If you take the vent tube off of the j boot, do you feel a lot of compression coming through there?
