Ideas for brake upgrades on 84 944?

One of our clients has an early 944 and looking to upgrade to larger brakes. Has anyone here done something different than a turbo upgrade to their car? There is not much available commercially (understandable since most kits would outvalue the car!) and even VCI (one of the best places for brake adaptor set ups) has nothing.

the client is looking for larger calipers and rotors. I probably could do something with boxster calipers , adaptors, but would prefer to find something semi- off the shelf
thanks!

Rennbay.com makes a bolt on setup that uses Wilwood calipers. It however does not use larger rotors, same as stock.

Tell your client that the 944 is a momentum car, so use less brakes and carry speed (I assume he is tracking)!

I second Techno Duck, the only bolt-on kit is the Wilwood front calipers...

Wilwood is good. Otherwise change to 951 spindles and big blacks (or big reds if you like spending lots of money - the good news is they'll work with the 951 spindles).

Yup. It also already has more brakes than it needs... if you have an issue with brake performance on the track, then you just need fresh fluid and appropriate pads for what you're doing. There's no sense in increasing rotating mass (ie larger rotors), as it will only decrease performance. Our 11" rotors are huge for cars that only have 160 HP, especially when you consider that we really don't need to slow down much for turns.

I know Lindsey Racing also sells the Big Red kit, but it is only for 951's. Just be careful its designed for a NA 944...

Check out the Porsche Hybrids website. We've come up with a great combination for our higher HP cars - Boxster S rotors with Lexus 4-piston monoblock calipers on the front, 951 rotors/calipers on the rear.
