Hey guys didn't see the intro section so I will post up here. I am a car guy, hate to start out with that and ask for advice in the same post...but it is the truth. I have a BMW 540i 6speed manual and that is my beloved ride.

I also rebuilt a ford probe from this...

But recently acquired this...924 5speed 1982

And the motor has a huge hesitation. I tried the usual stuff, plugs, wires, fuel filter etc...and still no joy. Starts instantly has 150k on it the guy I bought it from said the motor was rebuilt 5k ago. No rust and pretty darn clean for an 82. Open to suggestions and stuff to check from experienced porsche guys...

Nice looking 924. I spot a 944 rear spoiler on there.

924 Board . org is the place to get help on those motors, as they are not the same as the 944 2.5L's we all know here.

Sorry for the mis information! :)

i seem to recall that the AFM on the 924's can get sticky and/or out of adjustment. there is a flap, for lack of the proper term, that more or less 'floats' and changes position relative to air flow. if you've tried everything else, you can try looking there.

first, i would verify proper positioning of the timing belt and the timing advance. its been a long time since i worked on one of these, but that is where i would start.
