Problem mounting pressure hose to rack - Little angle support piece for pressure line

I received my rack and new hoses and spent Friday night trying to put my steering system back together. I was having problems with the orientation of the pressure hose coming off the back of the rack. I’d tighten the hose, go to mount it, and it would rub against the cross member.

Digging through the manuals and reading up on clarks garage, I read about how there is some support that goes on the front of the rack that puts the pressure line in the correct orientation. My rack didn’t come with that, so I have no idea how to properly orient the hose. I tried mounting the rack 5-6 times. I’d tighten the hose, try to mount it, would see that it would rub, then rotate the hose a bit and continue.

Porsche parts catalogue doesn’t show the angle support piece as a part number, or even a picture of it at all. The only picture I’ve seen is in the factory manual in one of those crummy black and white photos.

So, does anyone know where I can find one of these?

Or, does anyone have any detailed pictures that show the orientation of the pressure line coming off the rack. Specifically, in the front of the rack, does the pressure hose go above or below the bottom driver mounting bolt? I would think this would be a good method of getting it aligned properly?

Something like this?

It's the closest one I have of the circled bracket.

Yeah, that's the thing I need!

is that the only pic you have. It looks like the flash made most of the stuff black. Maybe when I get home I can adjust the contract/brightness in photoshop and get it close enough.

It does look like your hose is above the lower mounting bolt, right?

IIRC, the hose went directly across the head of the lower mount bolt. I believe I had to use a wrench, not a socket, to remove it.

Here's another shot, but not much better...

Blake, I was under the car earlier tonight, with the belly pan off, so I thought I would snap a few pics. Hope this is something you can use....

Actually, I hope I'm too late and you've already got it worked out and you're back on the road!

Regards,

Randy

Thanks every pic helps. It looks like the hose just goes right directly over the mounting bolt? I think I do remember having to use a wrench on that bolt when I took it off in January.....

I haven't put it back on yet. I'm waiting on the hollow screws to come in for the rack lines. Mine are allen socket type and I ordered some normal hex type so that it's easier to get back together. Hopefully this weekend..............

Still can't seem to find one of those angle pieces. I've only called a few places and they don't seem to know what I'm talking about. Of course I can't really blame them, it's a pretty insignificant oddball piece with no part number.

Just to clarify, you're talking about this piece, right?

You can probably make one of your own for a lot less effort than you've put into trying to find one. Simple, hose mounting clamp and a strip of metal with a couple of holes drilled into it.

Yeah, but the problem is I have no measurements or anything to go by. If I get the hose aligned properly, I can probably make one when it's on the car so I don't run into this again.
