Injectors fire for longer, making it run richer.

The DME computer and the coolant temperature sender work together.
www.Clarks-Garage.com has testing info.

Ok thanks ,how do u know if the auxillery air valve is working? will the revs go up on a cold start? if its not working will it effect cold start or just cold running?

Thanks again Mark

On a 944S2, there is no auxiliary air valve. There is a Digital Idle Stabilizer, which will do its darndest to keep the revs at 900-1100 rpms, regardless of temperature.

If the DIS is not working, it will only affect idle speeds, and you may see variations, either high or low, depending on where it's failing.

Are u sure thats right ?,bare in mind mines a European model ,theres a canister inbetween number 1 and 2 cyl on intake manifold with an electrical connector going to as well as being connected to the air intake system

I agree, don't take that bet unless it's not the original motor!
