88 924S, 9-pin engine loom connector and pinout.
I've spent a lot a time in the archives trying to find info on this 9-pin connector that I think is the main connector between engine & vehicle loom and could not find anything!. It sits at the back of the engine on top. - See photo. I thought that if I could figure out what is connected to it, it would be a useful point to make diagnostic measuremenets.
![]() So i've put together the following summary based on Porsche wiring diagram and looking at the connector wiring. Let me know if you see error please or can answer the question marks - like why two oil pressure sensor wires. My numbering... -------- ( 1 4 7 ! ( 2 5 8 ! ( 3 6 9 ! -------- My colours / What i've figured out from wiring diagram. 1 - Green / Ignition Coil 2 - Red/Blue / Unknown - heads to Tacho from wiring diag! 3 - Red/Yellow / DME relay 12V 4 - Blk/Green / HEGO? 5 - Blk/Green / DME Relay return 6 - Blue/white / Oil Pressure sensor ? 7 - Red/Blk / Starter Key Switch 8 - Blue/Yellow / Coolant temp sensor (For gauge, not DME) 9 - Blue/Black / Oil PressureSensor ? The following helped with understanding the colour coding on the bosch wiring diagrams. Sw - black schwarz (shvahrts) Ws - white weiß (vighss) Gr - gray grau (grou) - rhymes with "cow" Rt - red rot (roht) Bl - blue blau (blou) - rhymes with "cow" Ge - yellow gelb (gelp) Gn - green grün (gruun) Br - brown braun (brown) Steve Last edited by sdelasal; 07-07-2009 at 09:22 AM.. |

I have not followed a current path, but the oil pressure sensor has 2 wires, one for the oil pressure guage and one for the idiot light. The oil pressure sensor is grounded to block to complete the curcuit.
